We are looking for a hands-on Research Technician (technical or scientific background) with experience in microbial fermentation, bioprocessing and applied microbiology. In this role, you will contribute to our project delivery and research activities by conducting microbial fermentation experiments, operating automation equipment, running analytical quality controls, and ensuring the smooth functioning of our lab operations. This is a key role supporting our daily lab operations and research workflows. You’ll work hand-in-hand Dong Zhao, our Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer and her team, running microbial fermentations, operating automation systems, and contributing to project success in a high-impact environment.
Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant lab experience, or a completed vocational training (e.g. BTA, CTA, or equivalent).
Background in microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, or a related field.
Hands-on experience in microbial cultivation or fermentation is a strong plus.
Practical experience in microbial cultivation, particularly in upstream development and process optimization, is a strong plus.
Proficiency in microbiology practices, including aseptic techniques, media preparation, microbial culture, culture bank maintenance and quality control and sterilization.
Experience in managing consumables, chemicals, and stock; calibrating tools such as pipettes and pH meters; and operating equipment such as anaerobic chambers and bioreactors, both virtually (in LIMS) and physically in the lab.
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in documentation and experimental procedures.
Excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to act and respond swiftly and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
Strong commitment to lab work is required, with availability, must be available on-site in Freising (85354).
